About the event

Join Cook County United Against Hate, Not In Our Town, Facing History & Ourselves, Temple Sholom, JCC Chicago, JUF, Chinese American Service League, Interfaith America, Mishkan Chicago, and Illinois Commission on Discrimination and Hate Crimes for the Chicago premiere of Repairing the World: Stories from the Tree of Life. After the film, we will be joined by filmmaker Patrice O’Neill for a community talkback.

Repairing the World: Stories from the Tree of Life documents Pittsburgh's powerful community response to hate in the aftermath of the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S. history. Through the voices of survivors, family members, diverse Pittsburgh residents, and leaders, the film shows unity in a moment of crisis, the resilience of a vibrant city, and a community working together to understand what it means to be "stronger than hate." The film not only shares often-unheard stories of hope and activism but is expressly designed as part of an engagement strategy and organizing campaign in communities and schools across the country.

We are grateful to Temple Sholom for graciously hosting the community for this powerful event. We ask that attendees abide by the following guidelines:

  1. An official form of ID - a driver's license, state ID card, or passport - will be required for entry.
  2. Backpacks, briefcases, and suitcases will not be allowed inside.  Small purses 8" by 8" in size that are either hand-carried or have a small shoulder strap will allowed in.
  3. Guests with children who would be carrying  a diaper bag should place any essential items in a clear, plastic-style bag. Diaper bags will be tagged, and guests will be provided a claim ticket. We can provide plastic bags if necessary.
  4. Parking should be restricted to guests who have mobility issues or have a state-issued placard.
